Based on the results obtained by the international cooperation in Information and Communications Technology (ICT's), within the French-Mexican Informatics Laboratory (LAFMI) framework, as well as the cooperation background with Spain and Germany, CONACyT decided to explore a novel cooperation program among Mexico and these three countries aforementioned. The new international cooperation program expect to set a similar framework mechanism to the one adopted in LAFMI, now called, European-Mexican Informatics Laboratory, LAEMI (Laboratorio Euro-Mexicano de Informática).
In the first phase of the cooperation framework proposed, LAEMI should include three European countries: France, Germany and Spain, besides Mexico, in order to promote and organize scientific, technological and industrial relationships in ICT's, as well as to make a strategy for the inclusion of Mexico in projects with the European Union through the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
